O'Connell, Martin; Bachu, Amara
Current Population Reports, Series P70 n30 Aug 1992
This report presents statistical data on: (1) the ways in which children in the United States are cared for while their parents are at work, looking for work, or at school; (2) the complexity of these arrangements and the accompanying disruptions in the daily work schedule; and (3) payments for child care services. The statistics in this report cover children under the age of 15 whose parents or guardians were in the labor force or attending school during September to December 1988, and are based on data gathered by the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). The majority of the report consists of 7 figures, 12 text tables, 14 detailed tables, and 6 appendix tables. Four additional appendixes provide information on the SIPP program, definitions and explanations, sources and accuracy of estimates, and data quality. Facsimiles of the SIPP child care module and the SIPP work schedule are also appended. (MDM)
