Project Familia. Final Evaluation Report, 1992-93. OREA Report.
Clarke, Candice
Project Familia was an Elementary and Secondary Education Act Title VII funded project that, in the year covered by this evaluation, served 41 special education students of limited English proficiency (LEP) from 5 schools, with the participation of 54 parents and 33 siblings. Participating students received English language enrichment and instruction in content area subjects. The project provided social and emotional support and activities for physical development in accordance with the objectives set out in each student's individualized education plan. Participating adults received information on special education services, the needs of special education students, and ways in which to assist their children, as well as instruction in English. The project met its objectives for content areas, English language enrichment, staff development, parent information and training, and parent involvement in school activities and governance. The project did not meet its objectives for improvement on the Language Assessment Battery and was not able to evaluate objectives for parent reading, writing, and oral English because of the brief time period allotted for these activities. Three tables present evaluation findings. Three appendixes contain program materials, a schedule, and the parent questionnaire. (SLD)
