Student Enrollments and Completions in the Illinois Community College System, Fiscal Year 1993.

At the close of each fiscal year, the 50 public community colleges of the Illinois Community College System (ICCS) are required to submit detailed student records to the ICCS Board providing data on annual enrollments and completions for credit-generating students. Highlights for fiscal year (FY) 1993 include the following: (1) ICCS institutions enrolled 721,848 students in instructional credit courses, a decrease of .8% from the previous year; (2) annual full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment was 237,129, an increase of .1% over FY 1992; (3) as in FY 1992, overall minority student enrollments remained at approximately 32%, although the number of black students decreased by 1.7%; (4) 7 out of 10 students attended on a part-time basis during FY 1993; (5) associate degree nursing, the largest occupational program, enrolled 15,192 students; (6) less than 20% of students indicated an intent to transfer, while over half indicated intent to prepare for a new career or improve occupational skills; (7) among those students for whom high school percentile rank data were available, 50% ranked in the upper half of their graduating class; (8) over 39,000 degrees and certificates were awarded to students in FY 1993, a 5.2% increase over FY 1992; (9) nearly 14,000 baccalaureate/transfer degrees were earned, a 2% increase over FY 1992; (10) females accounted for 60% of all completions; and (11) minority students earned 20% of the collegiate-level degrees awarded in FY 1993, with blacks accounting for 60% of minority completions.
