Guidelines for the Management of Professional Associations in the Fields of Archives, Library and Information Work.
Bowden, Russell; And Others
This guide is prepared with the objective of improving the management and efficiency of professional associations in the library, information and documentation, and archive fields. It is hoped that improving their efficiency will contribute to the better development of such services in the Third World in particular and will assist in the reputations and salaries of individuals working in these fields. Chapters discuss the following topics: (1) what professional associations are and why they are necessary; (2) the role and function of library, information science, and archive professional associations; (3) organizational structure; (4) governance; (5) operation; (6) programs and services; (7) policies, planning, and procedures; and (8) finance. Seven appendixes contain sample rules of procedure, good practice, and professional conduct, as well as financial planning information. (SLD)
