National Client Follow-up Survey of Vocational Education Graduates. A Preliminary Report of the Pilot, 1993. A Statistical Report on Performance Measures.

This report describes a survey to quantify performance measures related to the national goals and objectives of Technical and Further Education, particularly those related to student satisfaction with course content, delivery, support services, financial support, and outcomes of training. This first national survey of vocational education graduates was mailed to 61,120 graduates in all states and territories of Australia at the end of April 1993; 25,330 responses were returned and analyzed. Respondents were predominantly 1992 graduates. The 16-page narrative portion of the report is followed by two chapters that provide the findings of the survey expressed in terms of the National Vocational Education and Training System national goals, objectives, and performance measures. These goals are included: improve the quality of outcomes of vocational education and training; opportunities and outcomes for individuals; the needs of industry; and equity. Chapter 4 contains the national findings. Chapter 5 presents findings for each state and territory. Appendix 1 contains the summary of results from the survey. Results are indicated on the survey form and are provided as the percentage of the total respondents. Findings indicated 86.5 percent of respondents were generally satisfied with the course; only 2 percent indicated dissatisfaction; 67.1 percent indicated they had paid work; and 29.8 percent indicated no paid work at that time.
