This special issue of a bilingual periodical dedicated to the investigation of women's access to education and to feminist analysis of education and learning presents a variety of stories written by women who have experienced abuse that affected their education. The issue opens with an editorial, presented in full in both French and English, by guest editors Anne Elliott, Wanita Koczka, Rip Van Nispen, and Patricia Williams. The editorial, whose English title is "Women, Violence, and Education: The Painful Reality," English title is "Women, Violence, and Education: The Painful Reality"; provides a context for the following features: (1) "Writing about Violence" (Morgan McClung); (2) "Breaking All the Rules: Breaking Silence" (Colleen Race); (3) "Between Silence and Silence" (Sharon Ferguson-Hood); (4) "Coping" (Anonymous); (5) "Stories from Pinegrove" (women at Pinegrove Correctional Center); (6) "Will My Hurt Go Away?" (Mary Rennie); (7) "Dealing with Residential School: The Healing Process of an Adult Child" (Elizabeth Bear); (8) "Taking It Day by Day" (Loralee Elliot); (9) "I Promise I'll Love You Forever" (Patty Herriot); (10) "Briser le silence en milieu pedagogique" (Jeannine Ouellette with a summary in English); (11) "Unwelcome Attentions: Learning NOT to Live with Harassment" (Jessica Slights); (12) "A New Beginning" (Jean Wasegijig); and (13) "A Survivor's Fairy Tale" (Kate Delaney Earthdancer). Five untranslated English-language poems are included: "Tarring the Riverboat" (Dianne Reid); "dross to gold (for Paul)" and "Fairbairn" (Lynne Kositsky);"I, Me, My" (Billie Livingston); and "Leda" (Barbara Wood). Regular features of the journal include editorials, letters, book reviews, lists of resources, and a list of relevant conferences. (NB)
