Microcomputer Applications. Teacher's Guide, Revised Edition and Addendum.
Mahaffey, Darlena; Patton, Jan
This teacher's guide provides office education instructors with detailed units of instruction correlated directly to the essential elements of a course in microcomputer applications as mandated by the Texas Education Agency. Sixteen instructional units are organized into six sections on the following topics: introduction to microcomputers, word processing, information management, electronic spreadsheets, information processing tools, and closure. Each unit includes the following materials typically constituting teacher guides: lesson plan, content outline, teacher activities, activity and competency matrices for domains and basic skills, competency tests, and answers for student activities and competency tests. Student guides in each unit contain some or all of the following: unit objective, student competencies, terminology, unit overview, and activities. Appendixes include over 300 reference addresses, a course competency checklist, suggested equipment list, test bank revisions, course descriptions, office education essential elements, lesson plan development guidelines, and guidelines for adapting instruction for special needs students. Provided in a separate addendum are annotated listings of several hundred publications dealing with various areas of computers/computing, a list of publisher addresses, six matrices designed to help teachers identify curriculum integration possibilities, and guidelines for using the matrices.
