The 1993 Family Day Care Licensing Study. Family Day Care Advocacy Project.
Children's Foundation, Washington, DC.
This study contains the results of a nationwide survey of state regulatory agencies conducted to update family day care licensing information gathered in 1992. Following a list of definitions for terms used in the study and a brief overview of each state's regulatory requirements for small and large family day care providers, the main section provides a two- to five-page entry for each state and the District of Columbia. Each entry provides the following information: (1) number of day care homes; (2) regulations and requirements; (3) training and orientation; (4) provider qualifications; (5) complaint procedure; (6) discipline policy; (7) immunization policy; (8) nutrition policy; (9) smoking policy; (10) emergency medical consent policy; (11) infant care programs; (12) sick child care programs; (13) special needs care programs; (14) before and after school programs; (15) national life safety fire code; (16) zoning; (17) available resources; (18) local contact; and (19) pending legislation. Each entry also provides the name, address, and telephone number of the official who supplied the information. (MDM)
