Re-Entry/Transition: A Report on the National Leadership Training Seminar.
This report describes a leadership training seminar for administrators responsible for developing re-entry or transition workshops for foreign students. Background and introduction sections describe the challenges that foreign students face when they return to their own countries after study in the United States and their need for assistance in negotiating this transition. Also described is the development of the re-entry workshop format and the goal of training foreign student coordinators nationwide to conduct such events. There follows a discussion of some considerations inherent in holding a training seminar for leaders of re-entry workshops and then a description of workshop techniques such as ice breakers, role playing and other exercises. Throughout the description of issues and exercises, the insights and experiences from an actual leadership training seminar are noted. Included are four sample workshop formats, three case studies for discussion, an evaluation questionnaire and a list of participants in the leadership training seminar. Also included are seven references. (JB)
