Family Life Education is a unit which teaches facts and encourages the development of skills and attitudes that contribute to self-understanding, healthy interpersonal relationships, and successful family life. It promotes the development of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being of young people. This brochure is designed to provide information for parents who may have questions about the Family Life Education Optional Unit, which is designed to be taught as part of the Manitoba Health Education curriculum, a required course of study from kindergarten to grade 9. The brochure informs parents about: the purpose of the program; the role of parents in the process of introducing the unit; and the contents of the Family Life Education Unit for grades 5, 7, and 9.
