Family Day Care Licensing Study.
Children's Foundation, Washington, DC.
The 1990 Family Day Care Licensing Study provides the results of a nationwide survey of state regulatory agencies that was conducted to update family day care licensing information last collected in 1989. As in past years, the study includes an in-depth examination of regulatory requirements for large family day care homes. The study has been expanded to include information on pending legislation in each state regarding regulations, liability insurance, and zoning. Information on sick child care regulations, and square footage requirements for family day care homes, has also been included. Prefatory materials consist of an introduction, highlights of key findings, definitions, a summary of survey questions and answers, and a state-by-state chart of regulatory requirements for small family day care providers. Most of the document consists of state-by-state breakdowns of family day care regulations. Data from the states have been organized into eight categories: (1) regulations and requirements; (2) training and orientation; (3) provider qualifications; (4) discipline; (5) zoning; (6) pending legislation; (7) sick child care regulations; and (8) local contacts. The final section of the document provides a state-by-state list of regulatory agencies. (RH)
