This curriculum guide for shoe and boot repair was developed by the state of Mississippi to standardize vocational education course titles and core contents. The objectives contained in this document are common to all shoe and boot repair programs in the state. The guide contains objectives for shoe and boot repair I and II courses. Units in course I cover the following topics: introduction and orientation; information common to all types of shoe repair; common types of shoe construction; the care of shoes and boots; tools and their uses; nails and threads; leather; repairing shoe and boot heels; resoling operations; miscellaneous repairs; operation and maintenance of shoe machinery; shoe alterations; and shoe and boot repair as a business. Unit II takes up the first 11 topics of Unit I, at a more advanced level. Each unit consists of these components: objectives with core/essential objectives indicated; suggested instructional practices; list of suggested resources; list of evaluation and suggested minimum performance standards, with core/essential objectives indicated; and performance record, with core/essential objectives indicated. A checklist for each course combining all unit performance standards into a single list is included. (KC)
