This notebook, which provides current statistical and comparative information on Cerritos Community College (CCC), is divided into eight detailed sections. Part I outlines current trends and challenges affecting education in California, focusing on changes in demography, ethnic proportions of students and staff at secondary and postsecondary levels, changes in the economic climate and workforce, and social trends. Part II presents numerical data and charts on such aspects of the CCC service area as demographic characteristics of district cities (i.e., gender, age, and racial distributions, as well as socioeconomic and educational status of district families); district residents' employment by occupation/industry; and the district's feeder high schools. Part III compares student characteristics at CCC and 11 other California community colleges of similar size with respect to transfer characteristics, full-/part-time status, gender, ethnicity, and age. Part IV is devoted to characteristics of CCC students, including enrollment rates of district high school graduates, geographic distribution of student residences, trends in probation and dismissal, placement levels of students tested from September 1989 to August 1990, ethnic distribution of degrees and certificates awarded from 1984-85 to 1989-90, participation in vocational education, and information on transfer students. Part V outlines CCC's instructional programs, student services, and community services, while part VI presents information on the age, ethnicity, and gender of full-time college staff. Finally, part VII supplies a financial overview of the district in the form of the 1989-90 CCC year-end budget, and part VIII provides economic indicators and employment projections for California and Los Angeles County.
