Annual Benchmark Compensation Study for Administrative Positions. Management Report 1990-91/2.

Based on responses to a survey of all California community college districts, this report provides 1990-91 compensation data for selected administrative positions to facilitate cross-district comparisons. Following introductory information on data collection and presentation, the report presents information on California's 19 multi-campus districts, and then on 46 single-campus districts. In both sections of the report, comparative demographic data are first presented for each district, followed by descriptions of the administrative positions for which compensation figures are provided. Tables then present the following two data elements for each position by district: (1) the maximum salary each district would be willing to pay for the described position based on the current schedule or contract; and (2) extraordinary benefits, such as car leases, super-insurance policies, and expense monies beyond the normal "board agenda" item. For the single-campus districts, figures for the following 12 positions are provided: chief executive officer (CEO); chief instructional officer; chief business officer; district personnel officer; chief student personnel officer; admissions and records director; line manager for the social sciences; line manager for accounting function; line manager of maintenance and operations; director of computing; secretary to the CEO; and director of learning resources. For the multi-campus districts, the additional position of campus CEO is included. (JMC)
