Convened to review earlier studies on national development strategies and on the region's future and to discuss the emerging trends in scenarios of the future and perspectives for the future in the Asia-Pacific region, this UNESCO seminar was attended by: (1) principal authors of studies on national development strategies; (2) scholars engaged in the preparation of regional scenarios of the future in different areas of UNESCO's competence; (3) some of the researchers preparing Country Monographs on Review of the Studies on the Year 2000; and (4) other scholars from academic institutions as well as representatives from other agencies within the United Nations System. There are four main sections to this report: (1) Review of Development Experiences; (2) Studies on the Year 2000; (3) Threads Together: Overview of Discussion; and (4) Concluding Session.
