This health curriculum guide for preschool teachers is structured around units with specific health themes. The 10 areas addressed are growth and development; mental and emotional health; personal health; family life and health; nutrition; disease prevention and control; safety and first aid; consumer health; drug use prevention; and community health. The units can be used in sequence for 9-12 months, or they can be used individually at the teacher's discretion. A total of 34 objectives are listed under the 10 topic areas, and each objective includes suggestions for materials and activities to be added to traditional learning centers. Special learning centers are suggested for some objectives. The basic learning strategies used in the curriculum are fully described. Each objective includes variations of activities based on the learning strategies. Additional activities designed specifically for each objective are included. Suggested activities provide opportunities for children's development in the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social domains.
