Solutions: An Overview of the Academy's Three-Part Access to Care Campaign. AAP Special Report.
Burke, Michael, Ed.
This report provides an overview of the American Academy of Pediatrics' three-part access to health care campaign. To ensure that legislative action benefits children, the academy has developed a legislative proposal that serves as a benchmark for health reform initiatives. This special report provides an outline of the proposal and describes some families the access campaign is designed to help. An overview is provided of two community-based access programs: Healthy Children (9 model programs) and Healthy Tomorrows (20 award-winning programs). These programs are designed to address system barriers by forging model private-public partnerships that address local access problems. Finally, the report provides an overview of the public awareness component of the access campaign. This component will be designed to overcome the information barriers that many families face. (RH)
