Public Evaluation of a Community College.
Garner, W. Harold; Shapton, Karen
A marketing study was conducted in the Sauk Valley College (SVC) Illinois district. This public comprehensive community college conducted a survey to determine public perceptions of the scope and quality of its programs; extent of public involvement with SVC; prospective market for SVC; and primary information sources used by the public concerning SVC. The "attentive public" model proposed by Gabriel Almond in 1950 was used in the analysis of survey results. The results of the survey indicated a positive assessment of the quality of college programs, missions, and program objectives. The results of the survey provided useful information for planning curriculum program and communication strategies. The study will be used to develop marketing strategies and to communicate with the public. (DWH)
