Summary of State-Administered Program Improvement Projects in FY 1984.
Budke, Wesley E.
A study examined state-administered vocational education program improvement projects funded in fiscal year 1984. Data concerning 586 projects funded for a total of $16,386,904 were analyzed. These data indicated that, during the year studied, more funds were obligated for support services than for program improvement. The percentage of funds allocated for research, exemplary and innovative, and curriculum development projects decreased in comparison to fiscal year 1983 funding levels. Although collectively the States dedicated nearly 45 percent of their program improvement funding to curriculum development, the amount obligated for each project varied considerably. State program improvement projects have focused on every educational level, with the greatest number focusing on improvement of instruction. (The second half of this report consists of a state-by-state compilation of the resumes analyzed during the study. Each resume includes a proposal identification number, information concerning the agency sponsoring the project and the organization conducting it, the project funding period, a project abstract, and descriptors and identifiers taken from the Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors. A subject index, also based on ERIC descriptors, and appendixes containing eight tables of data and a list of directors of State research coordinating units are also provided. Fourteen references are also included.) (MN)
