An Introduction to Commercial Security: Course Proposal.
A proposal is presented for a Community College of Philadelphia course, entitled "An Introduction to Commercial Security," which is intended to provide an introduction and analysis of the security administration function. The course level objectives indicate that the student will: (1) describe the development of the private security industry in America; (2) analyze physical security controls and their relationship to the physical environment and crime; (3) analyze internal theft as it relates to business organizations; (4) analyze alarm systems necessary for establishing a total security program within a business; (5) analyze federal health and safety standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970; (6) describe retail theft; (7) analyze hospital security as it relates to visitors, parking areas, employee escort, and stockrooms; and (8) describe computer security.
