Designing a Self-Directed Health Promotion/Wellness Program for Older Women.
Smith, Margaret M.; Clayton, Diane E.
This planning guide is intended as a reference for individuals developing a self-directed health promotion/wellness program for older women. The introduction defines the concept of wellness, and the seven tasks involved in the action planning process. Six steps in designing a program are outlined, including laying the groundwork, targeting participants and promoting the program, planning program content, promoting participation in workshops, individualizing assessment and planning for action, and follow-up and evaluation. In addition to ideas for discussion, suggested activities for each step, and additional references, the guide also includes a five-part wellness inventory, a wellness profile, and a sample contract committing the participant to an improved wellness lifestyle.
