Basic Skills Programs at the City University of New York: Mathematics.
Hecht, Miriam
This document, the last volume of a four-part publication, describes the programs in basic skills in mathematics at the nine senior colleges and eight community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY), updating surveys made in 1976. These programs are for students who do not meet CUNY's standard for minimum competency in mathematics, or higher standards set by the colleges in which they are enrolled. For each college, course structure and content, placement and population, teaching methods, support services, exit criteria and retesting provisions, faculty, and response to the CUNY Mathematics Assessment Test (CMAT) are described. Two tables summarize the information, and appendices present the CMAT and additional items for students intending to major in mathematics-related fields, an interview questionnaire, and the basic mathematics resource persons at each college.
