This guide focuses on appropriate techniques for the evaluation of electronic media educational programs. Such evaluation helps to provide the educator with the feedback that is missing whenever there is no direct contact with students, and also with information on the relative worth of an educational program. The four-part publication includes: (1) a statement of purpose and a description of radio and television as educational delivery systems with emphasis on their use by the Cooperative Extension Service; (2) a brief review of evaluation systems as applied to education, with a discussion of some of the evaluation models that may be applied to electronic media educational delivery, and a recap of several evaluations of educational television; (3) a practical approach to the evaluation of electronic media delivery of extension programs with a detailed discussion of each of the phases of evaluation, plus a section on implementing the evaluation; and (4) a summary of evaluation as applied to electronic media with a checklist to serve as a guide to the evaluator.
