An elementary level nutrition unit provides teachers with student background information, suggested activities, and student worksheets. Part 1 focuses on the relationship of food to growth, health, and energy. In part 2, students learn about the four main food groups. Part 3 deals with nutrients and provides information about carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Maintaining a caloric balance is the focus of part 4, which compares caloric expenditures of various activities, and the caloric content of various foods.
