This pamphlet was written to assist child care employees in conducting a survey of the salaries, benefits, and working conditions of individuals and/or day care centers. The following topics are discussed: reasons for making a survey; limits of surveys; personnel, time, and money involved; sample selection and informaton collection strategies; insuring responses and guaranteeing anonymity; formulating questions; and analyzing and utilizing results. Appendices indicate aspects of employment that survey questions could address, provide a sample child care salary and working conditions survey and a day care center survey, and include a list of 12 steps in performing a survey.
