These proceedings contain all of the formal presentations made at a conference focusing on policy issues affecting the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario. Introductory remarks by Harry Fisher are followed by an outline by Blair Tully of the Ontario government's focus on high technology and the projects of the Board of Industrial Leadership and Development. Panel discussions focus on: (1) "Program Objectives in the High Technology Era" (chair: William Newnham; panelists: A. S. Aidelbaum, Donald Pollock, and Archie Turner); (2) "Program Delivery in a Changing Environment" (panelists: George Farrow, Riske Taher, and Diana Schatz; (3) "Resource Allocation and Maximization" (chair: Doug Light; panelists: Charles Johnston and John Humber); (4) "The Development of a Responsive System" (chair: Charles Pascal; panelists: William Case, Norman Williams, William Cruden, and Ken Hunter); and (5) "Developing Alternative Strategies" (panelists: David Sutherland, Michael Skolnik, Doug Light, and Charles Pascal). Additionally, the proceedings contain presentations by Bill Fox on the expansion and improvement of industrial training; by Ian Macdonald on the economic situation in Canada and the role of postsecondary education in economic growth; and by Bette Stephenson on the importance of lifelong learning in a changing society.
