These guidelines describe the role and duties of all participants in field experience programs for prospective teachers at Samford University (Birmingham, Alabama). Requirements for entry, retention, and exit from the program are described, and policies regarding the placement of students in local schools are listed. Outlines are presented of what is expected of individuals in the roles of: (1) superintendent; (2) school principal; (3) student aide; (4) support teacher; (5) introductory education course professor; (6) student teacher; (7) education course professor; (8) student observer; (9) cooperating teacher; and (10) university supervisor.
