Maryland Accountability Testing Program Annual Report.
Maryland State Dept. of Education, Baltimore.
The Maryland Accountability Program Annual Report has been developed as a reference document on test data for the public. It provides a survey both of test results and of the progress being made by students attending Maryland public schools in grades 3, 5, and 8. The 1980-81 report is divided into three chapters. Chapter 1 defines educational accountability and introduces the reader to the Maryland Education Accountability Program -- past, present, future. Chapter 2, "Quality Indicators in Maryland Public Education," surveys the status of the state and local school system accountability programs, including a school-by-school summary of test results. Chapter 3, Special Program Areas highlights some of the major educational endeavors being implemented by the state. Other sections include Public Law 7-203 -- the Maryland Education Accountability Program; the statewide goals in reading, writing, and mathematics; a description of the assessment instrument used to measure academic achievement; and information on how to convert grade equivalent scores on the California Achievement Tests to analogous grade equivalent scores on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills.
