Project: "Teach 'n' Reach" Learning Handicapped: Developmentally Disabled, Learning Disabled. (Book 3 out of 4.)
Kagan, Arleen
The fourth of five volumes (and the third of four curriculum guides) in the Project Teach 'n' Reach series presents curriculum suggestions to help regular classroom teachers teach nondisabled students about learning handicaps. The developmentally disabled are considered in terms of anatomical structures of the brain, etiology, definition, sensory use, simulation activities, behavior patterns, problem solving, and ways to increase students' awareness. The second section, on the learning disabled, covers such topics as symptoms associated with LD; etiology; prevention; auditory and visual perception; auditory and visual memory; auditory and visual sequencing; auditory and visual figure-ground; laterality and directionality; written expressive language; reading, spelling, and math difficulties; and acceptance by nondisabled students. Each topic includes information on goals, performance objectives, and activity ideas. (CL)
