This report presents data on academic libraries in Connecticut, as reported by public colleges and universities in the Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS) conducted in the fall of 1979. Information is included on the size and composition of library collections, which totaled nearly 6 million items; on library staff and student assistance, with a total of 360 staff members and 316,902 hours of student assistance; and on library operating expenditure, which amounted to over $8 million. Tables display comparative data for each institution and subtotal figures for state colleges, regional community colleges, and state technical colleges. Separate statistics are also given for the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Health Center. Pie charts relate library expenditures to other educational and general expenditures at Connecticut's public postsecondary educational institutions. (Author/ESR)
