Energy Conservation in Agriculture. Competency Based Curriculum.
Lawrence, Layle D.
This competency-based energy conservation in agriculture curriculum for grades 11 and 12 is organized into seven modules. Intended for use for individualized or group instruction, the lessons should fit into existing units in courses of study rather than be presented as a single comprehensive energy conservation unit. Each module is based on from one to five competencies. For each one a student competency sheet is provided with the following information: module number and title, competency statement, an introduction, a list of needed resources and equipment, a list of learning activities, and a list of evaluation activities. Where appropriate, reference materials (reprints of articles, circulars, and bulletins), lecture notes, and transparency masters are provided to enable the students to complete the learning activities. Module topics are an introduction to energy conservation in agricultural and energy conservation in livestock and poultry production, farm lighting, tractor and farm engine operation, farm truck and pickup usage, crops production, and greenhouse operations. (Sources of additional reference materials needed to complete lessons are cited.) (YLB)
