Following instructions provided in the teacher's manual, the SCOPE Mathematics Achievement Test booklet for grade 2 presents 10 mathematical concepts. Testing items are: counting number of objects in a set to 100; using ordinals to the 31st; forming numerals correctly; writing number words to 10; identifying and naming the number of 10's and 1's in a two digit numeral; finding the number before or after a given number from 0 to 100; finding a number between two given numbers from 0 to 100; stating basic facts involving sums and minuends to 19; adding and subtracting two digit numbers without regrouping; demonstrating mastery of basic multiplication and division facts to 20. Other items tested include: reading and writing Roman numerals to XX; understanding commutative property for addition and multiplication; understanding associative property for addition; demonstrating the property of zero in addition and subtraction; counting collections of coins to $1; making purchases and giving change to $1; identifying fractions 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, in a concrete setting; constructing simple bar graphs; reading and interpreting celsius thermometer; telling time to the quarter hour; and reading dates on a calendar.
