AEA Handbook for Affiliate Consolidation.
Czisny, Ken, Ed.
This handbook is designed to assist the leadership of a professional association in its efforts to consolidate with other professional adult educational organizations. It has three parts. The first is a brief essay on the process of change. It considers the individual decision and the collective decision as well as other factors, such as the people involved in the decision, the nature of the change, and communication. Part 2 is a summary of issues that affiliate organizations have considered in their consolidation efforts. These include the change in status of the current organizations, changes to the constitution and by-laws, names, merger of existing leadership structures, and choice of the national professional associations with which to affiliate. Part 3 consists of three case studies that describe the successful consolidation efforts of three state affiliate organizations of the Adult Education Association (AEA) in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota.
