In the fifth and sixth parts of an eight-part series of radio broadcasts from the People's Republic of China, transcripts of the broadcasts are presented in Chinese along with glossaries of vocabulary words and questions for each program. These transcripts are intended to be used with cassette tapes of the radio program selections. The series was designed to assist advanced students of Chinese in comprehending such broadcasts which constitute an important element of daily life in China. Each tape consists of a one-hour broadcast produced in China for overseas Chinese listeners and includes discussions of news topics and segments of cultural programming. The culture segments consist of essays, correspondence, folklore, and musical programs accompanied by explanations. The cassettes and transcripts may be used for home study followed by class discussion. (RW)
