The Washington District School Volunteer Program.
Wright, Wynn D., Ed.
Prepared to assist principals, teachers, and volunteers who wish to be part of a district-wide school volunteer program, this booklet lists six steps for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a program for school volunteers. Included in these steps is information on (1) starting such a program (i.e., creating a coordinating committee which includes a school principal, a school volunteer coordinator, and a teacher representative); (2) determining the needs of the volunteer program; (3) recruiting school volunteers; (4) organizing an orientation meeting for all school volunteers; (5) orienting teachers to volunteers; and (6) evaluating the program. Sample forms for assessment, recruitment, and assignment of volunteers, as well as for evaluation of a school volunteers program are appended, along with a volunteer handbook. (MP)
