A practical handbook to guide the job-hunting process, especially directed to recent college graduates, is presented. Information is provided on: marketing yourself, deciding what to do, the resume, informational interviewing, searching, interviewing, follow-up, considerations for the individual after being hired, the most common job-hunting mistakes, and career development resources. Attention is directed to selling points the applicant may be overlooking, how to market these abilities, how to find out a firm's needs and problems, getting through the firm's door to apply for a position; how to identify an ideal job; deciding between alternatives; and deciding about what jobs to seek. Information is presented on the tone of a resume, a statement of objective and other components of the resume, the cover letter, arranging a meeting for informational interviewing, what to talk about during the informational interview, sources of leads concerning job openings, traditional and nontraditional approaches to the job search, preparation for the job interview, techniques and questions that might be used by the interviewer, and follow-up to the job interview.
