This student module on material hoist safety is one of 50 modules concerned with job safety and health. This module presents safety concerns related to electric, air, and manually operated chain hoists, as well as the design and erection requirements for inside and outside material hoistways. Following the introduction, eight objectives (each keyed to a page in the text) the student is expected to accomplish are listed (e.g., Explain the meaning of a safety factor).
