Special Education Revenue Tracking Project; Program Cost Differentials; and Concentrations of Handicapped Students. Final Report.
Price, Samuel T.; And Others
This project originally attempted to develop data tables depicting the amount of state reimbursement received by each local Illinois school district in each special education program category. It utilized state of Illinois data tapes for the 1979-80 school year. Because it was impossible to separate reimbursements by program, the original research question was abandoned. Researchers looked instead at the per pupil personnel cost of each type of special education program in Illinois and how this compared to the average per pupil personnel cost in regular classes in 1979-80. They also examined the comparative concentrations of handicapped students, by special education category, in each school district and the relationship of these concentrations to school district wealth. Findings are presented in several tables. (Author/JM)
