Generating the Humanistic Model Pupil-Teacher Interaction.
One of five papers discussing the humanistic model used in the training of reading teachers at City College of New York, this paper deals with procedures used to sensitize students to their own behavior as they work with urban children. The procedures described involve role play and simulations that allow potential teachers to identify their biases and subjective feelings and to find ways of going beyond these to establish satisfactory relationships with students. The paper contains samples of student/teacher dialogues and offers suggestions for follow-up activities and further development of this type of teacher training. (FL)
