Basic Skills Improvement Projects Funded by ESEA Title II. Fiscal Year 1980.
Wisconsin State Dept. of Public Instruction, Madison.
Fifteen basic skills improvement projects in Wisconsin school districts are described. These projects are federally funded (through the Elementary Secondary Education Act Title II) and are limited to adoptions or adaptations of programs which proved to be successful in other school districts. Basic skills are identified as reading, mathematics, and oral and written communication skills. While most of the projects are designed for teacher inservice education, some programs are also directed toward parents and other community members, and other programs directly involve students. The brief descriptions outline the form of the program, procedures used to implement it, the goals, and expected outcomes. (JD)
