Implementation of a District-Wide Science Curriculum: The Effects of a Three Year Effort.
Loucks, Susan; Melle, Marge
One of a series of papers describing a collaborative educational change effort involving the Jefferson County, Colorado Public Schools, and the Texas Research and Development Center, this paper describes the district-wide revision of a science curriculum, grades 3-6. Results are reported of the monitoring over three years of a representative sample of teachers to determine the effect of implementation of the curriculum, and the effects of the implementation on teachers' concerns, on their levels of use, and on the use of curriculum-specific components in the classroom. Additionally, implications are drawn from the results of the extensive data gathering from this science implementation effort. (CS)
