Using statistics that identify the resource needs of public libraries, public school library/media centers, and academic libraries in the state of North Carolina, this report examines such factors as professional and support staff; collections and acquisitions of print and nonprint materials; space; hours of service; and operating expenditures. Data are derived from 1975 survey of public, school, and academic libraries conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Each category of resource need is summarized across the three library types, the library situation in North Carolina in 1975 is summarized, and key findings are highlighted. Tables display the data.
