During the last three decades many commissions and committees have been appointed by the government of India, many conferences and seminars have been conducted, and many surveys and case studies have been undertaken to study the problems of higher education in India. This annotated bibliography attempts to bring together significant source materials on problems in academe since independence. After an introductory overview, the main part of the study (part 2) consists of an annotated list of 250 entries dealing with various problems in higher education during the period 1947-1977. Subsequent sections provide listings and descriptions of abstracting services, directories, periodicals, conference proceedings, and higher education organizations throughout the world. A list of acronyms, an author-title index, and a subject index are also included. (LC)
