Essential Components of an Exemplary Bilingual Classroom.

A checklist is presented for the evaluation of an elementary-level bilingual program for Spanish speakers. Questions for check-off cover classroom organization, teacher behavior, specifics of English and Spanish instruction, home culture instruction, teaching methods, and reclassification criteria. It is maintained that a positive response to each of the 34 questions would be indicative of an exemplary program. (JB)
