Communication Characteristics of Students Entering MSSD 1977-78.
Cowan, Nancy S.; And Others
A communication profile of each student entering the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) is composed of rankings in five areas: expressive manual communication including signing, fingerspelling, and synchronization; speech intelligibility; articulation; speech reading, including words and sentences; and audiometric test performance including pure-tone air conduction testing, audiometric speech testing, and impedance testing. The profile is used for appropriate placement as well as providing parents with realistic information about communication skills. The profiles of 86 students entering MSSD are graphed for all five areas. (CL)
