The National Advisory Council on Women's Educational Programs was established in 1974 according to one of the provisions of the Women's Educational Equity Act, Public Law 93-380. The Council is charged with overseeing the administration of the program created by the act, making recommendations regarding funding of projects under the act, evaluating funded projects, disseminating information about Council activities, and advising the Secretary of Education on the improvement of educational equity for women. The sixth annual report of the Council identifies the members, clarifies the history of the Council, and reports on Council activities related to sexual harassment, vocational education, the Black Women's Symposium, student financial assistance, American Indian women, Congressional actions, and the U.N.
