Environmental Education Needs and Interests of Wisconsin Adults. Final Report.

Described is a study designed to document the degree of interest in the environment by Wisconsin adults and to give direction to future statewide environmental education efforts. A team of interviewers telephoned a random sample of over 600 persons and questioned them about their: (1) interest in environment and nature topics; (2) desire to know more about these topics; (3) uses for environmental information; (4) current activities related to the environment; (5) media usage; and (6) demographic characteristics. Following a description of the survey methodology and results is a discussion of the study's implications for the philosophy, policy, and overall direction of environmental education efforts of the University of Wisconsin's extension program.
