Jointly developed by the Iowa Department of Public Instruction and a committee of the Iowa Council of Science Supervisors to encourage and aid local schools in assessing their science curriculum on a continuous basis, this document provides: (1) an implementation schedule for conducting a science curriculum assessment and/or revision; (2) a model for assisting schools in developing their science philosophy, goals, and objectives; (3) recommendations for levels at which suggested objectives are introduced, emphasized and maintained; and (4) an instrument for matching local science curriculum needs to available science programs.
