This report includes an overview of the Dallas Independent School District's Department of Research and Evaluation, along with its goals, budget, and senior staff members. The bulk of the report is comprised of 15 individual interpretative analyses of the Department's 1979-80 research and evaluation reports. Interpretative analyses are performed on reports in the following areas: (1) system-wide achievement data; (2) system-wide achievement data, Basic Objectives Assessment Tests; (3) system-wide achievement data, Texas Assessment of Basic Skills; (4) system-wide achievement data, Partners in Learning; (5) teacher selection and evaluation processes; (6) Texas Education Agency's accreditation process; (7) evaluation of state compensatory education projects; (8) evaluation of the Emergency School Aid Act programs; (9) results of the Title IV-C programs; (10) results of the implementation of Title I programs; (11) special education evaluation studies; (12) alternative education evaluation; (13) implementation of the system-wide testing program; (14) development of tests for instructional accountability; and (15) system-wide context data.
