The Middle East: An Annotated Bibliography of Literature for Children (with Supplement).
Maehr, Jane
The goal of this collection is to present an annotated bibliographical listing of children's literature, written in English, about the Middle Eastern countries of Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Republic (Egypt), and other countries located near the Persian Gulf. The bibliographic entries are further classified in terms of non-fiction, fiction and folklore materials. Additional features of the collections are a striving for inclusiveness, selection of current entries, ratings for age or grade level suitability, and evaluative comments indicating the accuracy of the content of the materials. This bibliography is thought to be particularly useful to school librarians and others who seek to expand the world of children between the ages of 5 and 14. (Author/RH)
